Legion

The Legion of Sol is the end-result of 10,000 years of infantry practice and tradition and the literally razor-sharp edge of the Emperor's luminous will. The Legion is a career-driven fighting force equipped with terrifying weapons and thousands of years of tactical refinement. Every legionnaire is trained with the gladius, their weapon of last-resort. Some Maniples favor its use over all other weapons. The Legion prefers recruits with above-average Strength and Endurance and rewards Knowledge and Presence.

Career Resolution

  1. Apply. Roll 2D and beat 6 (+1 if INT 8+, +1 if STR 8+). If you fail, you may enter the Draft instead. You may also skip applying and enter the Draft directly. Either way, you gain the Onboarding Skill of the service you join (Fencing here).
  2. Survive. Every term, roll 2D and beat 6 (+2 if END 8+). Fail, and the character dies in service.
  3. Learn. Roll once each term on Personal, Service, or Specialist Training, or on Advanced Training if EDU 8+.
  4. Recognition & Promotion. Once per term, roll 2D and beat 9 (+1 if EDU 7+) to be recognized: you become L1 (Aspirant, Astro/Cosmo). You may then roll for promotion immediately, and once in each later term: beat 9 (+1 if PRE 8+) to climb one Career Level. Draftees cannot be recognized in their first term. Recognition and each promotion also grant a random Specialist or Advanced (EDU 8+) skill.
  5. Re-apply & Age. Roll 2D and beat 5 to continue. If you succeed you may serve another term or leave, but on a 12 you must serve another term (unless aged 66 or older). From the end of your fourth term on, make Aging tests every term.
  6. Separate. Roll on the Benefits table once per term served, plus once if you were recognized and once more at L3 or higher. After 5 terms you also draw an Imperial Pension.
