Subsidized Ships

Work in Progress

These ships are large, requiring full and often redundant crews. Most are operated directly by The Guild, but a few are franchised or "subsidized" by the Imperium or the local nobles. If a character has a working passage, it's likely to be on one of these.

Frigate

Popular choice for system-level defense forces. Frigates are well-armed and reasonably speedy. They hold a big crew and can serve as a base for a fast-action planetary force.

The Bureau often uses frigates as their remote investigation platforms, while a few (very special) retired Spacers are offered a frigate as part of a privateering contract on the Frontier.

Passenger Liner

The highest prestige, best pay, and most respect among starship pilots goes to those who Captain the passenger liners of the Imperium. For good reason: the responsibility of operating one of these ships is staggering. Hundreds of lives are in the hands of the captain and crew. The passenger liner is the end result of a Guild monopoly so complete that star-passage tickets can be exchanged at a fixed rate for local currency throughout the Imperium and the Frontier, and have not changed their valuation for over 1000 years.
